This Southwest adobe style, Straw Bale house was designed to be very energy efficient, lowering bills over the duration of the house and minimizing the impact on the planet as well. This house incorporates the fundamentals of "Green Building." The post and beam skeleton assures a sturdy long lasting framework. The straw bales regulate interior temperatures while providing the soft comfortable feel that stucco and adobe bring. Straw bales are extremely renewable and require much less processing than 2x4 wood studs that are typically used in house construction. Along with the utilitarian benefits of using straw bales, the cost of building is lowered. It's simple, straw is cheaper than wood.
