Lot 4, Spruce Creek Road
Breckenridge, CO
The Spruce Creek Home is an upper end passive and active solar house. Built into a steep hillside the roof slope matches the site to keep the house at a low profile and with the use of natural materials to match the site the house melts into the landscape. Winner of Building a Greener Future Award the home is built with recycled and sustainable materials inside and out. |

The design is reminiscent of the mill mines of Colorado with the shed metal corrugated roofs and batt and board siding. With the use of passive solar, direct sun gain to the concrete floors and the use of shade control, the house stays cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The use of solar voltaic panels to produce electricity provides cheap and clean energy all year round. |
